Integrated Reservoir Studies

In mature oil fields, traditional approaches to exploration and production may not be sufficient. The extreme heterogeneity, anisotropy and mixed fluid phases found in many mature reservoirs can cause significant challenges for geophysical imaging and reservoir property estimation technologies. Comparing reservoir properties in close proximity of the perforated wellbores with those at distant locations can provide better estimates of the hydrocarbon-bearing horizons of interest and guide future drilling or stimulation activities, enhance reservoir characterization, reservoir management and performance optimization. Characterization of reservoir properties such as porosity and permeability are important for increasing production in mature fields.
